Clomid And Back Pain

Clomid, also known as clomiphene citrate, is a fertility drug which stimulates ovulation. Because of its relatively inexpensive price and availability, it is often the first fertility drug that couples trying to conceive end up trying. While it can be effective, there are also a variety of side effects that must be considered. For example, there is a connection between Clomid and back pain. Some women experience back pain that ranges from mild to severe when taking this medication. Not every woman who takes Clomid will experience back pain, but some are likely to.
If you are taking Clomid and experience back pain, call your doctor right away. He or she will determine whether or not your back pain is being caused by the medication or by something else. If the problem is the medication there are several choices. You can be taken off the medication, you can switch to a different type of fertility drug, or you can continue taking the medication and deal with alleviating the back pain you are feeling. However, women who are planning to become pregnant should definitely get the approval of their doctor before taking any kind of pain reliever, whether it is over the counter or via prescription.
Some women find moist heat quite helpful when it comes to reducing symptoms. There are heat wraps you can buy that are worn around the back. You can also try heating a towel and placing it on the painful area. Soaking in a warm tub can help lessen your discomfort and relieve stress. Try adding some aromatherapy oils to the water for an even more soothing effect. If you are interested in alternative medicine, consider acupuncture. Acupuncture is used for everything from stimulating weight loss to relieving pain of all kinds.
The most important thing when dealing with Clomid and back pain is to consult your doctor. Under his or her supervision a treatment plan can be devised and followed. Many women do not find the discomfort severe enough to discontinue the medication. There are other side effects associated with Clomid as well, including pelvic discomfort, bloating, nausea and elevated chance of multiple births.
